NAEM Internal Culture
The diversity of our physicians’ backgrounds and the quality of their training make for a highly stimulating environment in which to practice. We strongly support ongoing education and we have a long history of taking leadership roles in organized medicine, at state and national levels. We encourage all physicians to participate in management meetings immediately upon joining the practice. Partnership is available after one year at a low buy-in. All physicians under the age of 62 share equally in “call” responsibility.
The Community
Bangor, Maine is known for it’s superb quality of life—small town feel with urban area amenities. Low crime, an excellent school system, abundant recreational opportunities, and proximity to the University of Maine, all make it a wonderful choice for young professionals and families to grow and prosper.
A vibrant arts community includes Penobscot Theatre Company, a professional theatre, University of Maine Museum of Art, Maine Discovery Museum, a children’s museum, and the annual American Folk Festival, all in the heart of downtown Bangor. The Collins Center for the Arts located in Orono on the University campus brings world class performances to us all year, and it also is the performance home of our own Bangor Symphony Orchestra, one of the oldest continuously performing symphony orchestra in the country.
